We had an art show at our studio at the Medicine Hat College and the theme was a small art of any kind of media no bigger than 4" by 4". I had a large pattern of a Rooster for a punch wool art and drew it smaller and added a few more flowers and hills. I painted the background and french knotted the whole piece with one thread. The sky was not done solid but the rooster and the rest are solid. This took me a couple of months to do.

These next two are my idea of an evening in the garden..... I love to sit out there in the dark for the flowers seem to glimmer and it is so peaceful.

On this page I first took a bleach pen and made my jelly fish. I used beads for the top and where it was bleached I glued sparkles. It looks quiet neat. Hope you enjoy these pages.

My theme for the next two pages were "I'd like to live under the Sea" Beatles again!!! Did this all on material. Embroidered ,painted and stamped some of the background and beaded.

This fish was for Leisanne Syvester-Jarvis's Altered Book. This is a round robin book exchange and is a lot of fun to do. I sewed little squares of overdyed material . Did some stamping on it, added color with perfect pearls and inks. Made the fish on watercolor paper and zentangled the fish. Used watercolor pencils,gold pen and gel pens.

This piece was done with a felted background. Felted sari ribbon, threads . Did embroidery flowers, added lace, ribbon and beads. Painted a canvas background and put the piece on the canvas. It is called "secret garden"

This one was fun fun. We all live in a yellow submarine. Painted the background. Had some lovely blue hand made paper that I made swirls for the ocean. Drew the submarine and used water colors and cut it out,glued it on the blue paper. Beaded the fish, and added the rest. Found the pictures of the Beatles in one of the records I had and the rest of the fun pictures were found in childrens books and a calender that my daughter gave. to me. Now the book will be sent away and hopefully I will get it back at the end of the year with lots of goodies in it.

My beading piece for March last year was this one. Its called My path through lent. I just framed it and it will be on my fireplace for the the next 6 weeks. The next two pictures are close ups. The sky is painted the hill are dyed and burned . Beads were added ( of course) and bottom has wool and burned angelina.

This is a piece I did for my daughter last year. The elephant is made of crinkled silk and padded. The background is hand dyed and machine stitched. I added hand embroidery on the bottom and cut out flowers made of hand dyed silk and of course added lots of beads. She loved it and has it in the entry of her home.

Below is two french knot pictures I am trying to do for the end of February. Each year our Culture Center has a show of miniatures. Must not be bigger than 4x4 inches. The one with the frog is a little bigger ....Will try and get away with it. I have been doing french knots in my sleep.

Took a class from Kelli Perkins on video and enjoyed it very much. Will certainly do more. Her book Stitch Alchemy is a great book to have. I recommend it to everyone, especially if you are new to painting,printing etc. Lise

My husband gave me this book for Christmas . Love it and will try and follow it for my 2010 journal and for my blog. Will try and put something on my blog at least once a week. (one of my new years resolutions) I like what the writer "Jill Badonsky" says for the new year.ENTRY WAY TO JANUARY January's doorway. What will it bring? May it bring a new year of awakening the creating side of all of us. Lise

A gift from a good friend of mine. When I saw these acorns on Pam Ehlers Stec blog I had to have the pattern so I emailed her and she was kind enough to send me the pattern and some acorn tops. I do not crochet so I asked my friend Davida if she would make a few for me. She did, as you can see and make me this little felted bowl to put them in. Great gift!!!!

Happy New Years to everyone. It is a beautiful, sunny day today and "Fred", our friendly flicker has come for a visit. He is hard to see as I took the picture from our porch . If you look at the bottom of the right side you will see him. Started my day by going to mass and the first reading was so touching to me and would like to share it with everyone for I think it is a good start for 2010. Let this be for your daily soul vitamin. This is our storage room or should I say MY storage room. For my 65th. birthday my husband is making me a small studio. This and the next two pictures are what it looks like now and I will post the results when finished. The room is 11' X 10'. He will be putting in cupboards, book cases and even a small sink for cleaning up. Can't wait to see it finished and of course using it. Stay tune.

This is Lizzy. When I saw the material for the background I thought of our "hot" Julys' that we usually have. I love all kinds of lizards , their colours especially, so Lizzy was born. Made this for our Bead Journal 2009. One more to go.

This is our new member of the family. She is a samoli cat and is 5 months old. We got her in July and she is a gift to me for my 65th. birthday which will be October 21. My son and daughter got her for me. She is are real joy...... Very loving, loves to play fetch and purrs like crazy. This is another picture of her... She loves to help me stitch and is always near me. Somethings this gets her in trouble . Enjoy!!!!!

This is the start on my BJ for July. Usually the month of July in our part of the world is very hot. Not so this year but when I saw this material I had to use it for its so HOT and the lizard seem to call to me so.... will be done soon and will put the finished product on the blog.

Is this already September? Where has the summer gone??? This picture for my BJ2008 is a picture of what I would like my garden to be. The only thing that is real in my garden now is the tree. I do have flowers but not like I picture it in my mind. This is so much easier that gardening.

A few years ago we were on our way to Banff , Alberta and I took a picture of the foothills between Calgary and Canmore. This piece is mostly silk that I dyed and cut, burned and put together. I did a little painting on top and embroidered the rest.

I painted the background then started stitching. The flowers are cut pieces of dyed silk and I did a bit of felting.

This is a large piece that I made last year. It has over 44,000 beads. I loved making this frog. Learned how to make the bubbles around the picture from Robin Atkins book "Heart to Hands Bead Embroidery." Great book!!!!!! I took a piece of fabric for the water, burned the egdes and put it on a painted canvas. The frog was stuffed and is beaded on the bottom and the front.

This is Lucy. She is my pride and joy. I have to thank Robin Atkins for her. I saw Robin's Rosie in the Quilting Art magazine and had to know who made her and if I could tackle this bird. I was just starting to bead at the time. I contacted the magazine and asked about Rosie. They told me to contact Robin. I got her book and Evelyn and I both made the chicken. It took us a year. This was a real challenge for both of us.

A few weeks ago my husband had a ball tournament in Lenden, Alberta. He plays slow pitch with the "Older boys". On the way I saw these hill that I thought ...... That would make a great fiber piece so took a picture from the car. It turned out not to bad for taking it from the moving car.

May beadjournal 2008. I had a piece of woven wool in blues and it reminder me of water so I picked material that complemented the wool and tried felting it on the material. It worked fine and then I added stitching and beading. This one was lots of fun to make and I like the result I got from the felting. Will try more of this.

January beadjournal . Had knee surgery in January and thought I would do me..... Wanted to make this doll in dull colors as I was feeling kind of blue but she ended up very bright. The surgery was on my right knee. You will notice the big booboo. Everything went well and my new knee is working just fine.

crazy quilt landscape

In 1996 I took a class with Judith Baker Montano in Olds, Alberta. This was a crazy quilt landscape class. Now "I" do not like sewing and this was a real challenge for me. If you look near the tree ( that has thousands of french knots) you will see giraffes. This was a tie that my husband had and this is what I brought with me to the class . I wanted to make an African picture. Everyone in the class made small pieces but as usual I go for big. I remember Judith asking me if I really wanted to make it that big and I thought .....of course, isn't everyone else doing big??? The first day a was way behind as most of the girls were already starting to stitch and I'm still putting things together. Worked till midnight that first day. Did not finish the piece in the class and it stayed that way for a few years. Then one day I decided I had to finish it and now it's also one of my favorite pieces. I've won awards for this piece and am so glad a took the class from Judith. This was the start of free embroidery and I thank her for that.

This one of my favorites cross stitch pieces I've done. It is a danish piece and was done in the late 70s. There are different stitches in the hills and at the time I was just learning cross stitch so I thought I was really advancing in my work. Wow that seems a long time ago (it is)

Bags for girls camp

The following pictures are of two bags that I made to show the girls in summer camp how to embroider, bead and paint . The girls will be between 11 and 15 years old. This class will run in the second week of July. We will also teach them how to make beads, stamping etc. It should be fun. Will take pictures to put on this site

This is the piece I did for October. I am changing it a bit for I don't like the writing so have cut it out and collaged a canvas and putting in the skeleton on canvas. This is a picture of it . It is not finished and will show it when its done.
